Responsibilities

  • Serve as the program interface between product development teams, ODM partners, test laboratories, and regulatory authorities worldwide to drive compliance execution and timely approvals.
  • Lead ODM regulatory test execution as a project owner: align test strategy, review SOWs/quotations, build and track the test schedule, confirm worst-case configurations, manage risks/issues, and drive completion on time and within budget.
  • Drive non-compliance resolution using a structured approach (issue definition, corrective-action plan, owners, due dates, and escalation), coordinating with engineering teams and external suppliers worldwide.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with external test laboratories to ensure alignment on scope, schedules, deliverables, and quality of compliance evidence.
  • Provide technical leadership on global standards and legislation (with emphasis on US/Canada and EU), applying requirements to project decisions, schedules, and certification strategies.

  • Create and maintain internal compliance processes, templates, trackers, and best-practice documentation to improve predictability, cycle time, and audit readiness.
  • Plan, track, and execute annual compliance registrations/renewals as applicable, ensuring required evidence is current and submissions are completed by due dates.
  • Manage external test activities end-to-end, ensuring work is executed per the approved test plan with clear status reporting, action tracking, and timely issue escalation.
  • Partner with ODM/NPI teams to drive design-for-compliance execution, defining checkpoints and deliverables that reduce certification risk and protect program schedules.
  • Perform pre-compliance design reviews (PCB layout, schematics, BOM, labeling/markings) to identify compliance risks early; document findings, assign actions, and follow through with ODM/NPI teams to closure.

Requirements

  • Build and maintain compliance project plans (scope, schedule, milestones, dependencies) and drive execution to meet certification dates.
  • Risk/issue management for regulatory compliance: identify, document, escalate, and drive mitigation for test failures, evidence gaps, and submission blockers.
  • Stakeholder management across cross-functional teams (ODM, NPI, engineering, test labs): run reviews, publish status, and track actions to closure for approvals.
  • Budget/vendor coordination for compliance activities: review quotations/SOWs, manage lab purchasing needs, and control spend versus plan.
  • Process ownership: define/standardize compliance workflows, templates, and checklists to improve certification cycle time, quality, and audit readiness.
  • Intricate knowledge of FCC Part 15 rules and regulations, including permissive changes criteria and processes.
  • Experience of Bluetooth SIG qualification
  • Knowledge of applicable EU directives (RED, EMC, LVD)

Additional Information

Technical Regulatory Engineer Description - Job Summary The primary role of this position is to ensure Poly and HyperX products meet applicable global regulatory requirements, and that those requirements are clearly understood and executed by project teams and ODM partners. This role provides day-to-day guidance on compliance strategies, planning, and deliverables across multiple programs, and may require periodic travel to external test laboratories in Taiwan (and less frequently internationally) to support efficient test execution and certification submission. Additional responsibilities include sustaining product compliance throughout the lifecycle by applying sound engineering judgment during the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process and providing practical guidance to resolve compliance issues. This is a proactive role: the Tech Regs Engineer engages early with ODM and NPI teams to drive "design for compliance," identify potential risks, and support the processes and documentation needed to achieve on-time, high-quality certifications.
