WHTM-TV/abc27, the ABC affiliate serving Central Pennsylvania, is looking for a Digital Producer to join our newsroom. This position is ideal for a strong writer, careful editor, and digitally minded journalist who understands how audiences find and consume news across websites, mobile apps, social media, streaming, and broadcast platforms. The Digital Producer helps drive abc27's digital news coverage by writing, editing, publishing, and promoting accurate, engaging, and timely content across abc27.com and other digital platforms. This role works closely with reporters, producers, photographers, editors, and newsroom managers to ensure our digital platforms are updated throughout the day with breaking news, local stories, weather, sports, consumer, health, state government, and community coverage. The successful candidate will have strong news judgment, excellent writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work quickly and accurately in a deadline-driven newsroom. This position requires someone who can recognize stories that matter to Central Pennsylvania, present them clearly for a digital audience, and use social media and digital tools to build audience engagement and strengthen the abc27 brand. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Write, edit, and publish stories for abc27.com, the abc27 News app, social media, and other digital platforms. Use social media and the station website to build and reinforce brand recognition, increase audience engagement, and drive viewers to abc27's broadcast and digital content. Monitor local, regional, state, and national news sources to identify breaking news, trending stories, and opportunities for timely digital coverage. Work with newsroom management, reporters, producers, and photographers to develop and publish accurate, compelling content throughout the day. Review copy and correct errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, accuracy, style, and formatting according to AP style and newsroom standards. Determine a story's emphasis, length, format, and digital presentation, and organize material accordingly. Research and analyze background information related to news stories to provide complete, accurate, and useful information for readers. Gather and verify information through research, interviews, news files, public records, official sources, and observation when needed. Create engaging content for Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms. Find new ways to use social media, graphics, video, photo galleries, livestreams, and other digital tools to engage viewers and readers. Shoot, edit, and publish video content for digital platforms when needed. Produce content for multiple platforms while ensuring that all material meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality. Build and calendar digital campaigns to promote local programming, special reports, station initiatives, and community-focused coverage. Monitor website and social media performance and use audience insights to help guide digital content decisions. Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment through active participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements & Skills Degree in journalism, communications, digital media, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered. Daily newspaper, news site, television newsroom, or digital content experience preferred. Strong writing, editing, headline-writing, and news judgment skills. Proficiency in AP style and a strong understanding of journalism ethics, accuracy, fairness, and libel laws. Experience publishing content to websites, mobile apps, and social media platforms. Working knowledge of Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms. Basic photo editing, video editing, and digital production skills preferred. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, livestreaming tools, content management systems, and basic HTML preferred. Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline pressure. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple stories and tasks at once. Ability to respond positively to feedback and adapt to changing newsroom priorities. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as news coverage requires. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
