About the role

(GS-15) In order to qualify for the Supervisory Public Health Advisor position which falls under the 0685 occupational Series, you must meet the following requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 07/06/2026: Minimum Qualification Requirements: Experience that provide knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. -AND- Education/Relevant Years of Experience: Applicants must meet one of the following education and/or relevant years of experience combinations to qualify for the Supervisory Public Health Advisor, AD-0685-00, Band E position (GS-15 equivalent): Bachelor's degree AND six (6) years of comparable work providing advice and assistance to State and local governments, and to various public, non-profit, and private agencies and organizations on matters relating to the improvement of their public health activities. Master's degree AND five (5) years of comparable work providing advice and assistance to State and local governments, and to various public, non-profit, and private agencies and organizations on matters relating to the improvement of their public health activities. Doctorate degree AND three (3) years of comparable work providing advice and assistance to State and local governments, and to various public, non-profit, and private agencies and organizations on matters relating to the improvement of their public health activities. MD/DO/DDS/DPM/DVM degree AND three (3) years of comparable work providing advice and assistance to State and local governments, and to various public, non-profit, and private agencies and organizations on matters relating to the improvement of their public health activities. No Qualifying degree - Nine (9) years of comparable work providing advice and assistance to State and local governments, and to various public, non-profit, and private agencies and organizations on matters relating to the improvement of their public health activities. NOTE: Applicants must submit all relevant transcripts that demonstrate you possess the required education to meet the Basic Qualifications. Desired Professional Experience: Competitive candidates will have earned an advanced scientific, management, or social science degree or equivalent experience. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary officials or groups. Priority will be placed on candidates with recent management experience in driving continual improvement and change management. Must have strong knowledge of FDA policies, procedures, and statutory authorities as well as an understanding of how products are regulated by foreign counterparts. Candidate should demonstrate an extensive understanding of global health policy, diplomatic and foreign affairs and demonstrate an ability to work with the Department of State on the management and administration of offices within U.S. Embassies. Ability to drive collaboration, empower staff, provide expert advice and consultation, coordinate program activities and spearhead important program initiatives. Ability to formulate objectives and priorities and implement plans consistent with the long-term interests of the Agency.
