About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Senior Operations Specialist in HQ USAFRICOM's J33 Current Operations Division. Leading crisis planning and coordinate support requests from components and JTFs. The incumbent provides subject matter expertise for operations and exercises within the Africa AOR, monitors regional activities, and maintains operational program oversight. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level which includes: 1) planning, developing, and/or implementing Operation Plans (OPLANS), orders, and/or messages to support deployment and employment of forces and/or capabilities within a theater; 2) interpreting and evaluating data such as studies, policy, and procedures and regulations to identify operational and support requirements; and 3) communicating to and advising senior leaders on force and asset employment capabilities, limitations, impacts, risk, and risk mitigation to operational support planning and decision-making. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
