Description of Work Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Positions are located at Bertie Correctional Institute in Windsor, North Carolina. Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Assessing offender behavior and developing counseling strategies to achieve desired offender progress. Answering offender questions, giving information about classification and sentencing status, corresponding with offender families, and providing supportive counseling. Organizing and directing the activities of various rehabilitation programs provided for offenders. Conducting work release and home leave investigations, coordinating community resources, planning and coordinating transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community. Making recommendations to the offender classification committees on an offenders' program involvement or custody level change. Working with offenders whose problems, needs, and comprehension levels, vary greatly. Serving in a custody role during certain activities and working some evening hours, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences: Salary Range: $37,377 - $65,408 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
