About the role

You will serve as a MUSEUM CURATOR of US SEABEE MUSEUM. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate the following: For GS-09: You must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Experience in stewardship, management, and maintenance of artifacts in a museum collection. Responsibilities include documenting, cataloging artifacts, and deaccessioning; 2) Experience in addressing various research inquiries from official and private patrons, utilizing comprehensive methodologies to gather and analyze historical context and content to reconnect artifact provenance; 3) Ability to implement and complete a long-range plan to gain comprehensive intellectual and physical control over the collection. This includes reconnecting provenance and legacy accession information, creating and updating catalog records, identifying conservation issues, and recommending items for deaccession; 4) Effectively communicating information in writing and verbally to collaborate with employees, volunteers, interns, and the public; 5) Presenting and promoting ideas and utilizing computer skills including Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop or equivalent programs. For GS-07: You must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Experience in stewardship, management, and maintenance of artifacts in a museum collection.
