About the role
As a Senior Process Design Engineer, you'll play a critical role in shaping how our plant operates today and evolves for the future. You'll lead the design and implementation of engineering solutions that support both day-to-day operations and high-impact strategic projects. Responsibilities Include: Safety, Compliance & Responsibility Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of employees, contractors, company assets, and the surrounding community. Ensure all work complies with Momentive's EHS Management Systems, cybersecurity requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain accountability for safety across engineering projects and maintenance activities, including work performed by contractors and vendors. Key Job Responsibilities Lead the development of detailed engineering designs for new installations, system upgrades, and plant modifications. Prepare engineering deliverables such as specifications, drawings, and technical documentation for process equipment and fluid handling systems, including heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, safety valves, columns, and reactors. Provide process design support for capital projects, including scope definition and cost estimation. Serve as a site subject matter expert in piping and insulation specifications, material selection, and chemical compatibility. Conduct technical and economic evaluations to support new products and process improvements, assessing plant capacity, operating conditions, investment needs, and potential operational impacts. Strengthen site engineering capability through mentoring, coaching, and technical development of process and production engineers. Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- The following are required for the role
- BS degree or higher in Chemical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in design engineering within an industrial chemical manufacturing environment.
- Skilled in process simulation and analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of codes and standards (ASME, API,ASTM).
- Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
- Strong safety consciousness, strong EHS awareness and familiarity with EHS requirements.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook / Office / Excel/ PowerPoint etc. - computer basics.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects.
- The following are preferred qualifications:
- Technical knowledge in industrial equipment and chemical products.
- Familiarity with the following:
- SAP
- OSI PI data management platform
- Chemical Process simulation, preferably CHEMCAD
- Process Safety Management knowledge (MOC, PSSR, PHA, LOPA)
