About the role
Flagship's Korean subsidiary is focused on bridging Flagship's innovative ecosystem with the Korean biotech, pharmaceutical and biomedical ecosystem to fostering strategic partnerships in one of the world's critical healthcare markets. We are seeking an accomplished and dynamic individual to join our Flagship APAC team as the Director , Alliances and Partnerships for Flagship Pioneering Korea. Reporting into the Flagship APAC organization , t he successful candidate will be responsible for spearheading strategic initiatives, fostering and managing partnerships, and driving business growth in the Korean market. This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the life sciences industry, exceptional strategic thinking skills, and the ability to build and maintain high-level relationships.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning:
- Work ing as part of Flagship APAC closely to partner with Flagship ' s Corporate and Business Development team to d efine and execute the partnership strategy in alignment with Flagship Pioneering's global objectives.
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, potential partners, and market trends in Korea.
- Partnership Development:
- Establish and nurture strategic alliances with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, research institutions, and other relevant stakeholders in Korea.
- Steward current partnerships in Korea.
- Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements to drive mutual growth and innovation.
- Market Expansion:
- Develop strategies to expand Flagship Pioneering's presence and influence in the Korean market.
- Collaborative Initiatives:
- Work collaboratively with Flagship Pioneering's APAC and g lobal leadership , including the APAC team based in Asia-Pacific and the global engagement team based in Cambridge, MA to align efforts and share best practices.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to support portfolio company growth and development.
- Financial Accountability:
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support business development activities.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and milestones.
- PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or related roles within the life sciences sector.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and managing strategic partnerships in Korea.
- Strong understanding of Korean healthcare and regulatory environment.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and drive long-term business growth.
- Fluency in Korean and English, both written and spoken.
- Advanced degree (MBA, Ph.D., or equivalent) preferred with an emphasis on business or life sciences.
