Windows and Database Operations Engineer (OS and DB Patching, Monitoring, Configuration Management)

Responsibilities

• Perform patch management for Windows servers and database systems to ensure security compliance and system stability.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Configure and maintain monitoring tools to ensure visibility into system health and performance metrics.
• Implement and maintain configuration management processes to standardize system configurations and ensure consistency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operating system and database-related issues in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes and updates to the infrastructure.
• Document operational procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

Requirements

• Local Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Windows and database operations roles.
• Strong proficiency in Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting.
• Extensive experience with database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Databases.
• Knowledge of patch management best practices and experience with patch deployment tools (e.g., Ivanti, Tanium).
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios or SolarWinds.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bonus Skills:
• Industry certifications such as MCSE, MCSA, or equivalent.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
