Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, this role owns Mimecast's internal product developer experience function and treats it as a product. The engineers are the customers. The mandate is to build on existing foundations, accelerate the tooling, systems, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-powered capabilities that remove friction from how they work, and give them a genuine productivity advantage at scale. The Director will lead a distributed team across Bangalore, the UK, and the US, and the impact of this work will be visible in our DORA metrics and engineering cycle time. This is a builder role. The Director will shape how engineering works at Mimecast, influence culture across a large and geographically distributed organisation, and ensure that as we continue to accelerate AI adoption, our delivery foundations remain strong and stable. We expect this leader to combine deep engineering credibility with the ability to communicate impact clearly and drive change at every level of the organisation. Responsibilities

• Champion AI-Augmented Development: Lead the adoption of AI-powered developer tools across product engineering teams, including code assistants, automated testing, and AI-enhanced development workflows. Establish best practices and drive measurable productivity gains from AI tooling adoption.
• Drive Engineering Excellence: Define, track, and improve outcome-oriented engineering productivity using a rigorous, data-driven approach.
