Examples of specialized experience includes familiarity with related engineering disciplines, particularly structural and mechanical. Make selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives and, after approval by the supervisor or higher-grade engineer, carry out the sequence of details. OR EDUCATION (DIRECTLY RELATED): Basic requirement and 1 year of directly related graduate-level education or superior academic achievement GS-09: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes having the ability to apply the standard practices of related engineering disciplines and architecture as they relate to O&M assignments. Knowledge of state and local jurisdictions over the use of land and natural resources, the construction of facilities and utilities, and the distribution of utilities services. Knowledge of the installation/command mission and organization. OR EDUCATION (DIRECTLY RELATED): Basic requirement and 2 years of progressively higher level directly related graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree GS-11: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes ability to modify standard practices and adapt equipment or techniques to solve a variety of problems; ability to adapt precedents or make significant departures from previous approaches to similar projects in order to provide for the specialized requirements of some projects; and ability to apply the standard practices of related engineering disciplines and architecture as they relate to engineering design. Broad understanding of state and local jurisdictions over the use of land and natural resources, the construction of facilities and utilities, and the distribution of utilities services. OR EDUCATION (DIRECTLY RELATED): Basic requirements and 3 years of progressively higher level directly related graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree GS-12: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes professional knowledge of civil engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to a broad range of engineering, construction management, life cycle management, etc. and related assignments. Applying drafting techniques and conventions and drafting skills sufficient to convey design concepts and ideas and formulate working drawings.
