About the role The Central Office Administrator maintains administrative systems in the Mathematics Department and provides administrative and operational support to students, staff, and visitors of the department, particularly those in the Applied Mathematics & Mathematical Physics (AMMP) Section. What you would be doing In this role, you will play an important part in creating a smooth, welcoming and well-organised experience for everyone who interacts with the Mathematics Department, from students and staff to visitors and external contacts. Your work will be varied and rewarding, and you will provide essential support across a wide range of areas including day-to-day administration, finance processes, space and facilities, recruitment activity, and health and safety. With a particular focus on supporting the Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics section, you will work closely with colleagues across the department and wider university, building positive relationships and helping things run efficiently behind the scenes. To give you a sense of whether this role could be the right fit for you, we're particularly interested in candidates with: Experience in an administrative or office support role, ideally in higher education or a similarly fast-paced organisation Confidence working across a range of activities, such as administration, finance support, recruitment coordination and meeting support Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and SharePoint Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students & visitors Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, stay on top of deadlines and manage competing demands A proactive and adaptable approach, with the confidence to work independently while also being a supportive team member The ability to stay calm and helpful in a busy environment, even when there are frequent interruptions A high level of accuracy, attention to detail and discretion, especially when handling confidential or sensitive information Candidates will be able to find the full essential and desirable criteria in the job description.
