In addition, independently manage tasks related to the provision of veterinary clinical care/treatments to mice/rats including triage, record review, injectable, oral, topical medication administration and euthanasia. Communicate with clinical veterinary staff and lab personnel regarding the health of colony animals. Maintain animal health records, perform drug calculations. Requires regular weekend duty (with flexible weekdays off); occasional after-hours duty may be needed. Operate sterilization equipment and prepare surgical equipment packs. Consult with veterinary clinical staff and investigator staff on clinical treatment options. Prepare bills for treatments/medications used to provide veterinary clinical care. Familiarity with IACUC protocols to help ensure investigator compliance.
