PRIMARY FUNCTION: Primarily responsible for maintaining, operating, inspecting, and repairing various types of ammonia refrigeration equipment for a poultry processing plant. Performs preventative and predictive maintenance; periodically tests and inspects to verify equipment is operating within manufacturer's specifications and tolerances; troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs as needed. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: Under general supervision, perform the operations in the ammonia refrigeration compressor room, follow blueprints and diagrams to diagnose and repair units Take and record required system readings; understand the implications of variances and report to appropriate personnel/leader Perform maintenance on compressors as needed and/or scheduled Identify unsafe conditions; correct or report to appropriate personnel if unable to correct on own Assist in creating and maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations All other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent NOCTI HVAC/Refrigeration test Level 1 certified Pass NOCTI HVAC/Refrigeration test, Level 2 required EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Minimum 2 years' experience in running, maintaining and repairing ammonia refrigeration equipment Intermediate math and computer skills Knowledge and understanding of all functions and components of ammonia refrigeration equipment Knowledge of electrical and general mechanical systems Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Stand up to 8 hours Lift up to 60 lbs May be exposed to heat (99ºF, 37ºC) and cold (45ºF, 4ºC) Exposure to wet and dusty environment Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling Roll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.)
