About This Position Job Description: IT Database Administrator Senior Purpose: This position designs, administers, maintains, secures, and improves performance of complex databases. Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Designs, analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves advanced operational and performance-related database issues; coordinates changes; maintains database structures; and assists in developing policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment. Designs, coordinates, implements, and determines procedures necessary to save and recover production databases and databases from hardware and software failure. Performs database performance monitoring and auditing, implements efficiency improvements, and modifies existing databases and database management systems. Designs, configures, and implements database network connectivity working with required technical teams. Monitors capacity versus utilization and recommends appropriate action on a timely basis to avoid performance degradation. Creates databases and database objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, and stored procedures. Tracks database assets and critical information about those assets. Assists in development of data security standards to ensure data integrity data security. Maintains data standards and prepares and develops database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data dictionaries. Creates test database environment for applications section, including the creation of necessary libraries and procedures. Installs new software releases and/or upgrades including researching, testing, and implementing new technology.
