About the role

Join the InsideOut Institute at the University of Sydney as a Research Assistant and contribute to research that is improving the understanding, prevention, and treatment of eating disorders. Working within a nationally recognised research centre, you will support the research activities associated with the evaluation of digital mental health interventions delivered via the InsideOut eClinic as well as support the development and delivery of clinical trials and research projects evaluating innovative digital programs for eating disorders, that inform evidence-based care and improve outcomes for individuals across Australia. As a Research Assistant, you will play a key role in coordinating clinical trial and research activities, supporting participant engagement, analysing research data, and supporting research outputs, including reports, presentations, publications, and literature reviews. You will work closely with researchers, clinicians, mental health professionals, and external collaborators in a highly collaborative and research-intensive environment. Your key responsibilities will be to: Support clinical trial activities, including participant engagement, recruitment, scheduling, follow-up, and stakeholder communication, ensuring studies are delivered in accordance with approved protocols, and timelines. Support the set up and ongoing management of research databases and clinical trial data, data cleaning and analysis, ensuring data is quality-assured. Support the development, coordination and documentation of research and ethics protocols, ensuring alignment with institutional, regulatory and ethics board requirements. Maintain accurate trial documentation, workflows and tracking systems to support efficient and compliant study delivery. Develop and maintain effective relationships with researchers, clinicians, mental health professionals, participants, and external collaborators to support successful research and clinical trial outcomes. Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, literature reviews, research outputs, and publication materials. Provide operational and administrative support to the eClinic research program, maintaining accurate records, coordinating project activities, and contributing to continuous improvement and quality. About you Bachelor with Honours in Psychology or a relevant field. Demonstrated experience within clinical trials, including assistance with ethics applications, research protocols, governance documentation, and ethics committee submissions, preferably within mental health or eating disorder related settings. Data management and analytical skills, with experience using research and statistical software (such as REDCap, Excel, Power BI, R, Stata or equivalent) to analyse and report research data. Previous experience with participant recruitment, data collection workflows, and the uptake of high-quality research databases. Strong written communication and research support skills, including experience assisting with report writing, presentations, and literature reviews, to assist in supporting project delivery and dissemination activities. Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage effectively with participants, clinicians, and research collaborators, working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
