Position Title: Assistant Teaching Professor of American Sign Language (ASL) Appointment Type: Faculty Job Description: The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor of American Sign Language (ASL). The successful candidate will develop and teach courses in the area of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum. The individual selected for this position will be a motivated instructor who will develop and teach courses related to Deaf Culture and communication and will also contribute to departmental and institutional service. This position involves a courseload of 4 courses per year, which translates to 49% FTE for remote teaching faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses in the fall and two courses in the spring. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position. Initial appointment length is three years starting August 16, 2026. Renewal is possible and renewal parameters are determined by performance and department need. Required Minimum Qualifications : Master's degree in ASL or a related area Experience teaching sign language, interpreting or related courses at a postsecondary institution
