Job Description Summary The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Job Tasks May Include: Set up and operate, using work instructions and inspection equipment, a variety of conventional and numerically controlled precision machine tools/equipment such as, lathes, millers, grinders, electro-chemical machines, coordinate measuring inspection machines, precision finishing, special process machinery, etc. Utilize a variety of precision gauges, inspection measuring tools, and fixtures to conduct both mechanical and visual inspections of products and hardware. Identify and manage the processing of quality-related nonconforming and noncompliant products and materials, including the Preliminary Review quality process Foster a collaborative work environment by actively participating in cross-training initiatives and promoting teamwork to enhance overall team performance and flexibility Interpret planning to determine the necessary setups, gaging, operations, and inspections required to complete job tasks. This includes performing gauge cuts to verify the accuracy of the setup and making necessary adjustments. Regularly calibrate and maintain gauges to ensure their accuracy. Demonstrated ability to accurately understand, calculate, and apply work offsets, ensuring precise alignment and positioning of tools and workpieces during machining operations. This includes adjusting machine settings to compensate for tool wear, thermal expansion, material variations, and other factors. Proficient in using machine control interfaces to input and modify offset values, conducting test runs to verify accuracy, and making necessary adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and high-quality production standards. Additionally, capable of troubleshooting and resolving issues related to work offsets to minimize downtime and ensure continuous, efficient operation. Possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, detailed sketches, engineering specifications, technical drawings, and related documentation. Perform related duties in environmental, health, safety, maintenance, quality, production flow and continuous improvement to support plant machinery, equipment, and manufacturing-related initiatives and programs Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in all operations Attend shift crossover and other business required meetings when applicable Participate in training duties as required
