About the role

Our CS&CC team in ERM Italy partners with leading organizations to shape sustainable futures. We deliver strategic advisory and technical expertise across diverse projects, including: Corporate Sustainability Strategy: Designing strategies aligned with business goals, integrating ESG into governance, and creating actionable ESG plans for sectors like real estate and manufacturing. Climate Change & Decarbonization: GHG accounting, target setting, decarbonization roadmaps, climate risk assessments, and scenario modeling for resilience. Sustainability Reporting & CSRD Compliance: Gap analysis, disclosure planning, and implementing reporting processes under CSRD and other frameworks. Product Sustainability & LCA: Assessing environmental impacts across product life cycles and supporting eco-design and circular economy initiatives. ESG Ratings & Certifications: Advising on ESG scoring methodologies and certification processes. Strategic Projects & M&A Support: ESG due diligence and integration of sustainability into investment decisions. We are seeking an experienced Principal Consultant to lead ESG and sustainability advisory projects, manage client relationships, and drive new business opportunities. Responsibilities

  • Lead consulting engagements across ESG and sustainability workstreams.
  • Define sustainability strategies for major Italian and international companies.
  • Develop proposals, pricing, and client presentations.
  • Build and expand relationships with clients in sectors such as private equity, banking, and corporate finance.
  • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to a high-performance team culture.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate globally to innovate and strengthen ERM's capabilities.
  • The annual salary range for this role is €50,000 - €67,000. In accordance with local legislation, the salary information displayed applies to Italy only. Recommended recruiting salary bands in other locations will differ.

Requirements

  • Experience: 7-10 years in ESG and sustainability consulting, ideally with exposure to corporate and financial sectors.
  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of frameworks such as PRI, EDCI, SBTi, TCFD, GRESB, CDP, Ecovadis.
  • Education: Master's degree in Finance, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Specific skillset
  • Ability to engage senior stakeholders (Heads of ESG, CIOs, Managing Partners).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality.
  • Client-centric mindset and proactive approach.
  • Languages: Strong proficiency in Italian (C1) and full professional proficiency in English, enabling effective communication with our clients and internal teams. French or Spanish is a plus.
