Description of Work This Community Employment Program Specialist position is located in Sanford, a satellite office of the Chapel Hill office, which provides services to persons who have disabilities which prevent them from independently obtaining, maintaining, or retaining employment. The incumbent will also develop and maintain relationships with employers in Lee and Chatham counties catchment area. Assists in the placement of eligible consumers in compatible, and competitive employment that is consistent with their interests and abilities. Work closely with counselors to determine appropriate vocational goals for consumers and identify the availability of similar positions in the community. Teaching employment marketing classes to job-ready consumers. Teaching job retention classes. Provide written and verbal feedback to counselors regarding the progress of referred consumers' efforts to obtain employment. Coordinate in-school work adjustment programs. Meet with local and regional employers to explain agency mission and goals and to obtain their agreement and commitment to hire vocational rehabilitation (VR) consumers. Participate in job fairs and other community events to promote the agency and its consumers as well as represent the work unit on boards and committees as designated by the Unit Manager and or Assistant Unit Manager. Be heavily involved in the planning and implementation of National Disability Employment Awareness events. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $34,270 - $59,973 Recruitment Range: $34,270 - $50,000 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
