Responsibilities

- Outage Planning Engineering:

- Act as liaison between real-time desks (TDC/SCC), and all AEP planning teams, engineering, construction management, and maintenance groups engaged in capital improvement efforts.
- Technical Expertise:
- Possesses technical knowledge of power flow concepts and familiarity with power flow tools such as PSS/E, MUST and/or TARA is preferred.
- T echnical knowledge of short-circuit modeling software such as ASPEN/CAPE is preferred.
- Knowledge of AEP Transmission system topology (PJM/MISO/SPP/ERCOT) footprint is a plus.
- Leadership and Guidance:
- Coordinates work activities of others within the team, works autonomously, or other corporate entity as necessary to perform routine engineering work.
- Performs routine engineering activity independently.
- Ensures all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards and rules of the company and complies with the regulations and procedures required by external agencies.
- Provides training and guidance to lower-level employees.

- Participates in the development of plans by establishing measurable goals, objectives and requirements for specific areas of responsibility.
- Coordinates the development of input necessary to establish projected cost of all projects.
- Identifies and initiates appropriate corrective action when objectives are not being met.

Requirements
- This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*;
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
- Individuals with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy this degree requirement as an Engineering Technologist Associate
- *VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with a non-ABET accredited program.
