Senior Manager, Government Relations and Public Policy - DACH - AI and Privacy

Responsibilities

• The ideal candidate should be a highly flexible problem-solver with strong communication skills and will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating sound judgment and a proactive approach to managing risks and unlocking opportunities, helping contribute to the success of the company.
• This role will be based in Berlin, Germany.
• Strategic Advocacy: Develop and advocate for TikTok's positions on key AI and privacy issues and opportunities, aligning them with our principles while incorporating DACH's specific markets needs.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, industry and trade associations, academia and NGOs to advocate for the company's interests and influence policy outcomes.
• Policy Analysis: Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments across the focus areas of AI and privacy, including data and digital sovereignty and cross-border data transfers, privacy enhancing technologies, and cybersecurity, and assessing their impact on the company's operations and providing strategic recommendations.
• Representation: Represent the company at governmental meetings, public hearings, industry conferences, and other relevant events, articulating the company's positions on various policy issues.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Legal, Product, and other relevant teams to provide expert guidance on AI and privacy related policy matters, ensuring responsible product development and compliance with evolving/upcoming regulations.
• Reporting and Compliance: Provide regular reports on AI and privacy policy developments, advocacy efforts, and potential risks to address public policy concerns.

Requirements

• Experience: Significant relevant experience in government relations, public policy, or a related field, with a strong understanding of political and regulatory environments in AI, privacy, international data flows and geo-politics.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Language Skills: Fluency in German and English, both written and verbal.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to assess complex policy issues and their implications for the business.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
• Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government officials, politicians, industry leaders, think tanks, trade organisations, academia and NGOs.
• Familiarity with AI and the associated policy and regulatory questions (privacy, copyright, cybersecurity, etc.);
• Demonstrated interest and/or experience working in a tech environment (company or other organisation);
• Experience working independently and a passion for tracking big challenges;
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
• Strong research, analysis, and project management abilities;
• Strong teamwork skills;
• Motivation to lear
