Responsibilities

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Assist in the development of project specifications.
  • Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience, or
  • PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling software experience.
  • Exhibiting experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Maryland or Virginia.
  • Mentoring and training junior staff members.
  • Managing time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.
  • Optimizing work processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Independently progresses the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
  • What We Prefer:
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Valid driver's license required for this position
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to deliver high quality work and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Experience with either MDOT, VDOT or DDOT projects
  • Relevant experience in Water Resources, Land Development, or Site Civil
  • Experience delivering transportation infrastructure design projects in Maryland, Virginia, and/or DC
  • Experience supporting design-build and/or P3 projects
  • Experience with ArcGIS, OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D, OpenFlows Storm/StormCAD/SewerGEMS, HEC-RAS, Pondpack and/or HydroCAD, HY-8, and/or HEC-RAS or similar hydraulic modeling software.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to apply DEQ and state DOT design guidelines, policies, and practices to address complex design challenges.
