AI Director / Director of Machine Learning (Remote, Full-Time) [AS256]

About the role

We are seeking an experienced AI Director to lead the research, strategy, development, and implementation of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning initiatives across a highly innovative product environment. This is a senior leadership role for an individual who combines deep technical expertise in AI/ML with the ability to translate emerging technologies into practical business and product outcomes. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to leverage machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI systems, driving experimentation, building prototypes, and establishing best practices that enable teams to adopt AI effectively. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable discussing advanced machine learning architectures with engineers, presenting AI strategies to leadership teams, and guiding cross-functional stakeholders on how AI can enhance products, workflows, and operational efficiency. This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys exploring new technologies, solving complex problems, mentoring teams, and shaping the future direction of AI within an organisation.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related technical disciplines.
• 3+ years of experience in an AI Lead, AI Manager, Head of AI, Director-level, or equivalent leadership position.
• Proven experience leading AI/ML initiatives from concept through production deployment.
• Strong expertise in Machine Learning theory, algorithms, model development, and system design.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and experience developing production-grade AI/ML solutions.
• Strong experience with C++ and its application within AI, simulation, or high-performance systems.
• Hands-on expertise with modern Machine Learning frameworks, including:
• Strong understanding of Generative AI technologies, Large Language Models (LLMs), and AI-assisted workflows.
• Experience evaluating, implementing, and integrating AI solutions into real-world products and systems.
• Ability to assess AI technologies and communicate their strengths, weaknesses, limitations, and business applicability.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing technical strategy.
• Ability to balance innovation, experimentation, and practical delivery outcomes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
• Experience mentoring engineers, researchers, and technical teams.
