Responsibilities
- Report incidents, near misses, and hazards using the appropriate report forms
- Immediately report any serious near misses, hazards, or injuries to senior management and the Environment or Health and Safety team
- Align with government regulations, legal documents, safety, and ethical standards, and acquire legal compliance training as needed
- Take responsibility for quality (GMP) and regulatory performance in the department to meet the quality program
- Align with all regulatory requirements of EH & S and GM
- Analyse and troubleshoot mechanically oriented problems using drawings and technical manuals
- Set up, fix, service, examine, adjust, put into operation, and troubleshoot high-tech machinery and equipment based on hydraulic and pneumatic principles
- Read and comprehend hydraulic and pneumatic circuitry governing fluid power systems
- Use lean methodology tools like 5 Why, A3, and 6S to improve processes
- Exercise high precision trade skills with various materials and techniques, such as electric arc welding, MIG and TIG welding, and using lathes and milling machines
- Install and fit new or relocated equipment
- Assist in investigating upgrades or improvements to existing equipment
- Provide data for diagrams and blueprints for existing, redesigned, or new equipment
- Evaluate equipment and components, source original or alternative components, and liaise with suppliers to share technical data/specifications
- Provide trade mentorship and assistance as part of a work team
- Be familiar with the access and use of the MAINPAC software system for maintenance data updates
- Implement quality assurance techniques such as GMP, Measurement, Waste Elimination, TMP, 6S, and Lean practices
- Assist with investigating root cause equipment failures.
- Key requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a manufacturing setting
- A current and relevant recognized Mechanical Trade Certificate
- Proficiency in PC and software tools
- Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic circuitry governing fluid power systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative experience within a team setting.
