Shape how government delivers to Ministers, influencing high-impact work at the centre of decision-making Wellington Based | Permanent |Fulltime Midpoint of $145,198, dependent on experience Ko tōu ake mahi - What you'll do As a Principal Advisor, Government Services, you'll provide strategic leadership and expert advice across critical functions, working closely with senior leaders, Ministerial offices, and key stakeholders. This is an opportunity to influence how government processes operate, strengthen capability, and deliver high-quality, timely outcomes that matter. Provide strategic, expert advice to shape work programmes that support Government and Ministry priorities Lead and influence cross-Ministry initiatives, ensuring alignment and high-quality delivery across Government Services functions Build and maintain strong relationships with Private Secretaries, senior leaders, and key internal and external stakeholders Oversee complex projects and workstreams, delivering robust, timely outcomes through effective planning and execution Strengthen systems and capability through policy development, training, and continuous improvement initiatives Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you'll bring Proven experience providing strategic policy advice and thought leadership at a senior level Strong technical leadership to design, deliver, and implement complex programmes of work Expert knowledge of the Official Information Act 1982 and its practical application Knowledge of information governance, records management, and privacy considerations Experience in managing responses to Ombudsman investigations and inquiries Excellent judgement and critical thinking, with the ability to develop clear, high-quality advice Outstanding communication and relationship management skills across diverse stakeholders High levels of integrity, discretion, and professionalism Attention to detail Ability to balance legal compliance under the OIA, transparency, operational realities, and reputational considerations Deep understanding of government processes, with political awareness and a commitment to Te Tiriti and equity outcomes Ngā hua o tō mātou whare - What we bring Discover a world of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
