Application Support Analyst - Contract

Responsibilities

• Understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Analyze and design new enhancements and improvements to existing functionality.
• Perform data mining and testing to ensure enhancements meet business needs.
• Assist with Java application development and troubleshooting post-implementation.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting and data analysis.
• Support client project leads and users with technical issues and system performance.
• Identify and fix technical issues related to Java/COBOL applications and SQL databases.
• Analyze operational problems and suggest improvements.
• Work closely with technical teams and business project leads/users to ensure smooth communication.
• Contribute to system improvements and process automation.

Requirements

• Experience with Java programming.
• Experience with SQL databases and query writing.
• Willingness to learn COBOL programming.
• Good functional business analysis skills and attention to detail.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills - comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A team player who is eager to learn and grow.
• Bonus: experience with Spring, Hibernate, or JPA.
• Bonus: frontend experience with React and TypeScript.
• Bonus: Microsoft Excel VBA / Excel Macros experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 1+ year of experience working with Java and SQL.
• 1+ year of experience in BAU (Business-As-Usual) support.
• 1+ year of experience in Implementation (SDLC) and Change Request work.
• Prior technical support experience is a plus.
