Manager, Residential Hospice

Responsibilities

• Assists the Executive Director in coordinating high quality nursing services
• Supervises patient care team in the delivery of patient/family care. Supervises and assesses the quality of contracted services in relation to patient care. Receives and assigns case referrals to personnel
• Assist Executive director in ensuring that all clinical services for patient/family services comply with regulatory requirements and with professional standards 4. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures for patient/family services.
• Participates in the selection and evaluation of all direct patient/family care staff. Participates in the orientation and ongoing education of staff and volunteers
• Coordinates staff recruitment exercise to ensure adequate staffing to meet the needs of the Hospice patients
• Participates in public relations and community activities that promote the organization's role as an effective member of the hospice system.

• Ensures compliance of staff scheduling policies and procedures
• Oversees Patient care of the hospice including monitoring, communication with patients, families and provide prompt intervention
• Coaches, develops, evaluates and appropriately deploys staff to ensure a strong, effective and efficient team with good morale
• Assesses training needs of the hospice staff and coordinates staff development programs, including orientation, in-service and certificate programs for the professional and nonprofessional nursing staff, to ensure a strong, effective and efficient team
• Participates in quality improvement reviews especially related to the evaluation of nursing and contracted services. Make recommendations for improving and enhancing the overall functioning of the Hospice
• Coordinates and ensures accurate and up-to-date information management system for the Hospice
• Implements effective risk management and quality improvement programs, including infection control, occupational health and safety, incident management.
• This position will be expected to perform on-call professional duties
• Works collaboratively with the other Managers in Yee Hong LTC
• Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field of palliative and hospice care
• Participates on committees and special projects and other duties as assigned.
