This position carries a primary instructional responsibility, requiring the incumbent to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in sport management, and to provide academic advising to students within the major. The role demands expertise commensurate with a terminal degree (Ph.D., J.D., or Ed.D.: ABD considered) in Sport Management or a closely related field, and significant professional experience in the sport industry is strongly preferred. In addition to teaching and advising, this position includes service responsibilities at both the departmental/university level and within the candidate's professional area of expertise. The Sport Management and Leadership major, housed within the Department of Kinesiology, prepares undergraduate students for careers across the sport industry. Duties/Responsibilities Teaching (75%) Teach undergraduate courses in Sport Management and Leadership, including but not limited to introductory and upper-level courses based on departmental needs. Develop and deliver course materials, assignments, exams, and applied learning activities that support student learning outcomes. Maintain regular communication with students, provide timely feedback, hold office hours, and evaluate student performance. Contribute to curriculum quality through course preparation, assessment, and continuous improvement of instructional materials. Student Advising and University Service (25%) Provide academic advising to undergraduate students within the Sport Management and Leadership major Support students in course planning, academic progress, career preparation, and professional development. Assist students with questions related to program requirements, experiential learning opportunities, and preparation for careers or graduate study in sport management. Participate in department, college, and university meetings and service activities as assigned. Contribute to program-related activities, student engagement, recruitment, assessment, and other departmental initiatives. Engage in professional service related to the candidate's area of expertise when appropriate.
