About the role
The Office of Policy and Plans is responsible for (1) developing and coordinating long range plans for Agency programs; (2) conducting special studies and analyses of program operations in light of planned objectives; and (3) planning, designing, and performing a broad range of economic analyses of the U.S. and global marine transportation systems. To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration. To qualify for the Grade 13, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12, it must include: Experience applying advanced economic theories, principles, and quantitative methods; designing and conducting economic research; collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex economic, financial, demographic, or statistical data. To qualify for the Grade 14, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-13, it must include: Experience identifying, developing, and applying information on U.S. and global economic conditions, foreign trade, commodity flows, and domestic and international transportation systems to produce analyses that supports recommendations and policy decisions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Economic Forecasting: Knowledge of economic policy, principles, and practices, market and non-market values, and the analysis and reporting of economic data. Research: Skill in interpreting economic data and trends Data Analysis: Ability to synthesize large data sets into actionable conclusions.
