We are seeking a Senior Manager, Firm Recognition to join our Firm. This position will be based in our New York office (hybrid). The Senior Manager, Firm Recognition coordinates the directory submission process for all legal directories including Chambers USA, Chambers Latin America, Chambers Global, Legal 500 and IFLR. This role will supervise the daily activity of department personnel and ensures operating needs are met. Provides problem solving assistance and participates in large department projects. Coordinates the directory submission process for all legal directories including Chambers USA, Chambers Latin America, Chambers Global, Legal 500 and IFLR. Coordinates with Asia and Europe offices on Chambers Global. Coordinates with US offices on Nationwide submissions. Ensures Firm submissions are in uniform format and of the highest quality. Interfaces regularly with directory editors and researchers to maintain and update 'best practices' for Firm submissions. Meets with directory editors regularly to maintain strong relationships and handle lobbying efforts as appropriate. Provides partners and global marketing group with guidance on directory strategies and processes, including suggested format, style, and content. Assists partners during directory interviews. Conducts research to determine the industry and legal directories that peer firms participate in. Compiles comparative analysis of Firm rankings versus those of peer firms and individuals. Provides regular updates to directories concerning new matters, personnel changes, and other noteworthy developments as appropriate. Thinks strategically about how to best position the Firm, our practices, and our individual partners in various submissions. Oversees Firm practice and biography updates for various directories. Fields inquiries from directories about events, awards, advertising, and sponsorship. Maintains a database of how we cooperate with each directory (send submissions, interviews, etc.) and publicize results (appears in internal publications and bios as appropriate). Handles any/all requests from partners to conduct practice-specific directory comparisons. Ensures current knowledge of Firm policies and practices, current knowledge of industry trends, and continued professional development for business services professionals. Participates in the interviewing, selection, and training process. Coordinates and oversees department projects, day-to-day operations, and long-range plans. Monitors time, attendance, overtime, and expense reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with Firm policies. Effectively utilizes the Firm's performance management process to communicate performance expectations, monitor performance, coach employees, and manage unsatisfactory performance. Oversees employees' work performance and provides guidance in the resolution of problems. Initiates disciplinary procedures in collaboration with the Human Resources Department. Recommends guidelines and practices to promote efficiency, effectiveness, excellent customer service, and improved employee relations, in alignment with the Firm's Core Values. Develops and communicates departmental guidelines and procedures. Ensures accurate and timely responses to requests for departmental services. Engages in strategic (i.e., long-range) planning by developing departmental goals and supporting objectives for assigned department(s). Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others. Manages Firm resources responsibly. Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
