About the role

The Manager of DEX Automation & Engineering leads the design, development, and operational maturity of data-driven automation platforms that convert Digital Employee Experience telemetry into actionable insights, automated remediation, and behavior-changing communication campaigns. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, analytics, automation, and experience design. The team's mission is to help Gartner IT move from a reactive support model to a proactive operating model by identifying issues before employees are impacted, reducing or eliminating avoidable help desk tickets, and continuously optimizing Gartner's Digital Workplace for the best possible employee technology experience. This leader will guide a small team responsible for building and maintaining end-to-end data pipelines, integrating Nexthink, Intune, automation outputs, and other enterprise data sources, and translating complex datasets into clear, compelling narratives that influence technical decisions and employee behavior at scale.

Responsibilities

  • *Platform & Data Engineering
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable DEX data pipelines that ingest, transform, enrich, and operationalize data from:
  • Nexthink, including NQL-based datasets
  • Microsoft Intune and MDM telemetry
  • Automation outputs and remediation results
  • Workflow platforms, service management platforms, and external enterprise data source
  • Develop integrations that feed downstream systems, including dashboards, automation engines, analytics platforms, and data lakes.
  • Ensure DEX datasets are trusted, reusable, and consumable by Digital Workplace, Service Operations, and leadership teams.
  • *Automation & Integration Leadership
  • Lead the development and maintenance of Python and PowerShell-based automations that reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and prevent recurring issues.
  • Ensure automations are secure, reliable, measurable, and aligned to ITIL Change Management expectations.
  • Partner across Digital Workplace to identify repeatable support patterns that should become automated, remediated, or eliminated.
  • *Analytics, Storytelling & Behavioral Engineering
  • Design and support automation communication campaigns that influence employee behavior, reduce friction, and prevent issues before tickets are created.
  • Use both technical telemetry and employee response data to improve future automation and communication strategies.
  • Help Gartner IT move beyond "reporting what happened" toward "shaping what happens next."
  • *Leadership & Influence
  • Lead and mentor engineers and analysts, setting technical direction, delivery expectations, and quality standards.
  • Build an operating model for DEX Automation & Engineering, including intake, prioritization, sprint planning, release governance, and outcome reporting.
  • Partner closely across Digital Workplace, Service Operations, Identity, Security, and platform teams.
  • Define and track value metrics

Requirements

  • 8-14 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, automation engineering, platform engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of technical leadership experience, including mentoring engineers, leading delivery, or setting technical standards.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and PowerShell.
  • Experience designing and maintaining production-grade automations, integrations, or data pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex datasets and communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with Nexthink, NQL, Intune telemetry, endpoint management platforms, or similar Digital Experience (DEX) tools is preferred
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) with confidence engaging senior leadership and executive stakeholders Able to work independently or within a team proactively in a fast-paced AGILE-SCRUM environment.
