The Project Engineer provides mentorship, coaching, and clear interpretation of project plans and specifications to contractors and craft supervisors. This position is based out of our Concord office in Ontario.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifying and communicating workplace hazards and correcting or seeking assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Overseeing all phases of the construction projects from initiation through completion; ensuring alignment with project objectives, budgets and schedules.
- Preparing and updating engineering control documents.
- Coordinating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and execute effective construction strategies.
- Generating relevant Request for Information (RFI), submittals and working plans.
- Developing subcontract work packages including, scopes of work, drawings and specifications and assisting in the evaluation of proposals and awarding of subcontract work.
- Monitoring and managing the supply and distribution of construction permanent materials required for construction operations.
- Collaborating with the field supervision to develop field installation work plans and provide technical input.
- Preparing comprehensive reports summarizing construction operations, including data analysis, progress tracking, and any deviations from expected outcomes.
- Managing subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to execution plans, schedules, and logistics while reviewing scope, payments, change orders, and claims.
- Providing mentoring and coaching to other technical employees, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing work environment.
- Interpretating plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors or craft supervision, ensuring clarity and accurate execution.
- Upholding company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada's Standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.

Requirements
- Engineering degree with 5-6 years' experience or Technical diploma with 6-8 years' related experience.
- Registered as P.Eng or P.L. Eng with PEO in Ontario.
- Minimum of 5-years of related construction experience in the rehabilitation of underground infrastructure utilizing various techniques, including Cured-in-Place-Pipe (CIPP), Sprayed-in-Place-Pipe (SIPP), and Sliplining.
- Proficient with Primavera, MS Project and Blue Beam.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and an acceptable driving record as determined by Michels Review Team.
