Marine Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Assess, evaluate, and underwrite new marine insurance risks, determining appropriate terms, conditions, and pricing in line with underwriting guidelines.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vessel owners, marine intermediaries, and other key stakeholders across the maritime sector.
• Manage and service an existing portfolio of insured members, including policy reviews, renewals, and ongoing underwriting support.
• Partner with claims and technical specialists to evaluate exposures, analyse risk profiles, and determine appropriate pricing strategies.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities through market engagement, client acquisition activities, and underwriting assessments of prospective accounts.

Requirements

• Previous experience as Marine Underwriter or Broker
• Technical knowledge on Marine P&I, FDD, H&M, LOH
• A degree or professional qualification in Shipping, Business, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.
• Lawyers or legally trained professionals are highly advantageous
