Position Title: Surgery Scheduler- Dean McGee Eye Institute - Oklahoma Health Center Department: DMEI-Oklahoma Health Center Job Description: The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for maintaining the schedule for all surgeries, quality assurance processes, and compiling department statistical reports. Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. Coordinates the scheduling of all surgeries, taking into consideration such information as the desired date, priority of surgery, length of surgery, etc., to ensure the efficient use of surgery suites and staff. Maintains a paper 7-day surgery schedule to safe guard against computer down time. Notifies all necessary parties when changes must take place. Prints and distributes surgery schedules daily as needed. Extensive customer relations' responsibility in coordinating schedules with physicians. Utilizes Patient Electronic Medical Record system to compile data and reports as needed. Quality Assurance statistics and creates daily reports related to efficiency of Surgical Department. Checks for physician orders and attaches order to patient medical record to ensure that patients are receiving appropriate care. Communicates professionally with physicians and physician office staff to ensure appropriate documentation is in place. Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments in effort to maintain a teamwork approach. Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting systems and utilizes systems to report potential patient safety issues. Assists in resolving patient concerns. Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Values Statement. General Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned.
