Responsibilities

  • Identify, analyze, and maintain accurate data related to the history, diagnosis, treatment, disease status, and survival outcomes of cancer patients treated throughout the organization.

  • Serve as a subject matter resource regarding cancer registry standards, department policies, reporting requirements, and oncology data best practices.
  • Maintain the highest standards of data integrity, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance while supporting continuous improvement across the cancer program.

Requirements

  • Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) is required.
  • Three to five years of experience in oncology data abstraction, cancer registry, health information management, or a related healthcare data role preferred.
  • Experience with NeuralFrame by KACI, EMR's: SCM, Touchworks, Aria, Meditech, EPIC, and HealthInfoNet preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of oncology terminology, cancer staging methodologies, treatment modalities, and national cancer registry standards.
  • Experience submitting data to state and national cancer registries, including compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACoS) Commission on Cancer and National Cancer Database (NCDB) reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and reporting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across clinical and administrative teams.
