About the Position: Serves as Chief of Protocol and special advisor to the CG USARJ, Deputy Commander USARJ, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Secretary of the General Staff, USARJ Staff principals, and major field commands and subordinate units on all matters of protocol. As advisor to the Commanding General, senior officers and officials on correct protocol procedures, applies an expert knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, and techniques of the protocol program. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) interpreting and implementing protocol rules, ceremonial procedures, and diplomatic customs; 2) developing event plans, orchestrate ceremonies, and evaluating outcomes through after-action reviews; 3) resolving diplomatic, ceremonial, and logistical issues during high-visibility events; 4) reconciling stakeholder requirements and secure cooperation across organizations/stakeholders; AND 5) maintaining invitee lists, biographical data, ceremonial documentation, and financial records for organizational engagements and ceremonies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Influencing/Negotiating Manages and Organizes Information Planning and Evaluating Problem Solving Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Separated Military Members: Resumes will be accepted from members of the Armed Forces who indicate in their applications that they are available for appointment within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. Military members may be appointed while on terminal/transitional leave, before the effective date of their military retirement/separation. Military Retirees: Within the DoD (Department of Defense), including non-appropriated fund positions, the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following the retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326 or 5 U.S.C. 5305. Selecting officials may select or not select from a certificate of best-qualified candidates OR from a list of applicants eligible for noncompetitive placement (5 CFR 335).
