You qualify for the GS-05 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: Three (3) years of general experience at the GS-04 grade level, or equivalent of progressively responsible experience, one (1) year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4, that demonstrates the ability to: Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; Plan and organize work; Communicate effectively orally and in writing OR Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree or a bachelor's degree. You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Assisting in searching various databases to collect, review, and analyze information as requested; Contacting Federal, state, or local agencies to obtain documentation and information; Assisting in preparing written reports and presentations based upon findings OR Education: A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement or 1 academic year of graduate education. To qualify under Superior Academic Achievement, you must have completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, class standing in the upper third of a graduating class or major subdivision, or membership in a national scholastic honor society. The course of study must directly reflect the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position. You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Assisting law enforcement in identifying the immigration status of targeted individuals by performing numerous queries of commercial and criminal computer databases; Assisting with investigating criminal charges and convictions to interpret the criminality of a target by researching and obtaining supportable documentation from various law enforcement entities; Assisting with preparing analytical written reports and making recommendations for corrective action to higher level staff; OR Education: A master's (or equivalent graduate degree such as a L.L.B/J.D.) or 2 academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position. Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9. All education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
