At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta's Vegetables R&D team is seeking a Field Trials Scientist - Solanaceae Crops in Almería, Spain. This role will support the delivery of late-stage product advancement across our solanaceae vegetable portfolio - primarily pepper and tomato - by leading the end-to-end design, execution, and analysis of field trials, and translating high-quality agronomic data into strategic variety placement recommendations. Accountabilities: Design and manage the full trialing cycle - from annual trial planning and seed sowing coordination with internal operations teams, to field setup, data collection, and final analysis - ensuring every trial meets Syngenta's quality and scientific standards. Coordinate off-station trials with growers, including contract negotiation, identifying and onboarding new trial locations, and ensuring farmers carry out trial activities as agreed, in close collaboration with the commercial team. Verify and interpret trial data quality using internal digital tools, ensuring datasets are accurate, representative, and captured in systems on time. Present trial results and product advancement proposals at Product Advancement Tours (PAT) and Product Meetings, making clear recommendations for PLC5-to-PLC6 promotions in partnership with Breeding, Marketing, and Commercial teams. Build and maintain a strong network of growers, seed dealers, and cross-functional stakeholders, contributing to regional market knowledge and supporting optimal product placement decisions in Spain and nearby areas. Candidates must meet the required qualifications to be considered for interview. Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, or a related field. At least 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in vegetable crops, ideally in solanaceae (pepper and/or tomato) - whether in field trials, variety evaluation, R&D, or applied agronomy. Strong agronomic technical knowledge: ability to assess trial quality, evaluate crop and product performance, and interpret experimental results in a meaningful way. Digital literacy and data fluency: comfortable working with data management and analysis tools; experience with Power BI, statistical platforms, or similar data visualization tools is a plus. Fluent English and Spanish (spoken and written) - you will regularly present results to international teams and collaborate across functions. Valid driving license and willingness to travel within the Almería region and surrounding areas (approx. 40-50% during peak seasons).
