Position Overview Faculty members at Texas A&M University-Kingsville teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses across multiple sections and formats, maintaining high standards of instructional quality. They contribute to the university's research mission and also engage in service through departmental participation, student support, and collaboration on curriculum and academic initiatives. Additionally, they fulfill institutional responsibilities such as compliance processes, meetings, and supporting the university's broader mission of education and community engagement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teaching Teach undergraduate and graduate applied trumpet lessons. Teach assigned undergraduate and graduate courses in support of School of Music degree programs. Possible teaching assignments include Advanced Brass Techniques, Chamber Music, High Brass Methods, Studies in Literature, Studies in Pedagogy, and other courses as assigned. Coordinate and maintain applied studio operations, including student records, degree progress monitoring, jury administration, and assessment activities. Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments. Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Maintain Student Success hours in accordance with university policies. Research Engage in professional activities appropriate to trumpet performance and pedagogy. Maintain currency in trumpet literature, pedagogy, and performance practices. Incorporate professional and disciplinary developments into instruction and curriculum. Service Coordinate activities of a large undergraduate and graduate trumpet studio. Lead recruitment and retention efforts for undergraduate and graduate trumpet study. Participate in faculty meetings, committees, auditions, juries, and assessment activities. Assist with outreach, community engagement, and student recruitment initiatives of the School of Music. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to support student success and program growth.
