Responsibilities

  • Department Leadership and Operations

  • Oversee daily operations, including caseload allocation, scheduling, and resource management to ensure timely and equitable service delivery.
  • Quality Assurance and Clinical Governance
  • Lead the development and implementation of clinical standards, practice guidelines, protocols, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure effective risk management, quality assurance, and continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Establish and oversee clinical audits, incident management systems, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and key performance indicators, and implement improvement plans where required.
  • Work with Clinical Leads to evaluate service quality and staff performance.
  • Ensure supervision, monitoring, and clinical practices comply with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Clinical Leadership and Supervision
  • Perform clinical assessment, intervention, and rehabilitation planning in accordance with established frameworks and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with Nursing, Medical, Social Work, and Activities teams (including volunteers and care coordinator) to deliver coordinated interdisciplinary care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and care planning discussions, ensuring timely documentation and reporting.
  • Provide expert clinical oversight, support complex cases, and provide clinical supervision as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) standards and guidelines.
  • Lead clinical service development projects, outreach initiatives, and programmes that enhance service delivery and resident/client care.
  • Promote evidence-based practice by integrating research findings into clinical services and recommending improvements.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and guidance to therapists in accordance with organisational and AHPC requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Other Duties
  • Lead community reintegration initiatives and training programmes for volunteers, caregivers, and Healthcare Assistants.
  • Represent the Home in partnerships and networking with community organisations and external agencies.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional committees and organisational projects.
  • Support organisational programs and activities, and align the Therapy staff to work as a team and collaboratively with other departments.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the CEO or Deputy CEO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
  • Registered Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist under the Allied Health Professions Act.
  • At least 15 years of relevant clinical experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. Experience working with persons with disabilities is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in strategic planning, department management, and multi-agency collaboration will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop, implement, and evaluate programmes and services.

The Head of Therapy provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for therapy services at the Singapore Cheshire Home. This role oversees Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants, and the Care Coordinator, ensuring holistic, person-centric rehabilitation services that enhance or maintain the quality of life of residents and clients. Working closely with the CEO and Deputy CEO, the Head of Therapy drives rehab service development, clinical governance, quality improvement, manpower development, and operational excellence, while fostering collaboration across disciplines, departments and external stakeholders.
