About the role

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa is seeking a full-time (100%) Senior Auditor (Professional & Scientific job classification) in the Office of Internal Audit. This position will work with complex accounting and financial data of various departments to ensure accuracy and compliance with university and government guidelines, policies, and regulations; researches identified issues thoroughly and makes recommendations to improve policies or procedures accordingly; plans and conducts a wide variety of complex internal audits by evaluating operational and business processes for appropriate internal controls; identifies areas of process risk and recommends specific steps for improvement; applies internal audit standards and policies to investigate and evaluate operations and activities; conducts follow-up review of audited areas and programs to ensure management has taken appropriate corrective actions; and provides direction and training to staff auditors. The position will report up through the Board's Chief Audit Executive, be located at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, and be eligible for a hybrid work model. About the Board of Regents The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, is a group of nine citizens who govern five public educational institutions in the state through policymaking, coordination, and oversight, as provided by law. The institutions include Iowa's three public universities - the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa. About the Office of Internal Audit The Office of Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's operations. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. We partner with management to enhance and protect organizational value by providing an independent and objective assessment of operational efficiencies and controls. Required Qualifications A bachelor's degree in a business, accounting or information technology field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum three years applicable experience with preference given to audit experience. A certification in a related field: CPA, CIA, CMA, CISA Advanced knowledge of audit procedures, specifically the ability to assess an organization's exposure to various risks and recommend controls to address these risks. Sufficient knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft Office products (Work, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Ability to critically assess business policies, procedures, and practices. Experience with data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes. Capable of establishing and executing projects to meet required deadlines. Proficiency in professional verbal and written communication.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency applying organizational acumen to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
  • Experience in training new staff.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operational processes.
  • Salary Range
  • Minimum $70,000 to commensurate with experience.
