You will play a key role in exciting developments within the Materials Characterisation Hub (MATCH); a grouping of research facilities and technical specialists within the College of Science and Engineering. With the imminent arrival of a state-of-the-art Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) instrument, the establishment of a SAXS research facility will expand the advanced capabilities of MATCH, positioned at the forefront of materials research in a dynamic and collaborative environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Research Facility Manager: Small Angle X-ray Scattering to join a team of research technical professionals (RTPs) at the start of this exciting development. In this role you will oversee the installation, and lead the set-up, and subsequent day-to-day running and management of the newly established small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) facility within the Materials Characterisation Hub. You will provide comprehensive management and senior technical leadership of the SAXS research facility and build and provide support to a diverse user base, including PIs, researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate students and external users (both academic and commercial) across a broad range of research areas including chemistry, engineering and life sciences. You will provide specialist technical expertise in SAXS, WAXS and related scattering experiments including rheo-SAXS, USAXS and GIWAXS, and associated use of a range of non-ambient sample environments. You will be responsible for the planning/design/delivery and safe operation of this specialist technical research facility to optimise research output. This post is full time (35 hours p/w) and open ended with funding for 2 years in the first instance.
