Purpose The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is seeking a Senior Workforce Development Engineering Advisor to support the development and delivery of semiconductor workforce training programs. This role will report to TIE's Director of Workforce Development and will serve as a bridge between industry needs and academic training, ensuring that engineering lab courses, curriculum, and instructional materials align with evolving workforce demands. The ideal candidate will bring deep semiconductor industry experience, hands-on instructional expertise, and a passion for workforce development.
Responsibilities
- Curriculum & Instructional Design
- Design and develop hands-on engineering labs, course modules, and instructional materials for university, community college, and K-12 audiences.
- Work with faculty, instructional designers, and industry partners to ensure curriculum aligns with current semiconductor manufacturing and design practices.
- Develop and refine competency-based assessments to ensure training effectiveness.
- Support the creation of stackable credentials, certificates, and apprenticeship models for semiconductor career pathways.
- Guide students through hands-on semiconductor manufacturing and testing processes, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
- Develop and deliver technical workshops and training modules for university students, community college learners, and K-12 outreach programs.
- Program Implementation & Evaluation
- Contribute to grant proposals, workforce development initiatives, and reports for state and federal funding opportunities.
- Measure and evaluate program effectiveness, adjusting training content as needed.
- Support scaling efforts to expand semiconductor workforce training across Texas and beyond.
- Other related functions as assigned.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor fabrication, process engineering, equipment maintenance, or a related area
