A day in the life of a Senior Retail Operations Finance Analyst involves supporting retail performance through financial planning, analysis, and operational insight across a multi‑unit retail environment. This role supports retail operations across the broader VF brand portfolio, including brands such as Vans, The North Face, and Timberland. The Senior Retail Operations Finance Analyst partners closely with Retail Operations leadership, Field teams, and Finance partners to support labor planning, sales targets, expense management, and performance reporting. The role supports Retail leadership in owning channel‑level decisions, tradeoffs, and execution by providing clear financial insights aligned to retail priorities. You will support the execution of retail strategy through deep‑dive analysis, interpretation, and communication of results, including the creation of executive‑ready presentations to share insights and recommendations. This role reports to the Retail Labor and Expense Senior Manager and works closely with Retail Operations leadership. Let's break down that day-in-the-life a bit more. Work as part of the broader Retail Operations team to support store performance and employee experience through high‑quality, accurate financial analysis. Partner with Retail Operations leadership and Finance to support the development and management of labor models. Allocate sales and labor targets to stores and provide weekly and monthly reporting on performance and spend. Partner with field leadership to help ensure financial commitments and targets are met. Analyze and administer District and Store Manager incentive, bonus, and contest programs. Conduct scheduling, labor, and KPI analysis using retail systems and reporting tools (e.g., StoreForce, SMG). Deliver deep‑dive analyses in support of retail strategy, performance interventions, and operational decisions. Create clear, executive‑ready presentations in PowerPoint to communicate insights and performance narratives. Serve as a subject matter expert in Excel, with strong proficiency in Power BI and retail performance tools. Apply consistent financial and operational standards while adapting analysis to different brand strategies, calendars, and operating contexts across the retail portfolio. Identify opportunities to improve reporting, forecasting accuracy, and decision‑making effectiveness. What do you need to succeed? We're looking for a strong analyst who can balance financial rigor with operational understanding and partner effectively across teams. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your years of experience and professional achievements. The foundation skills you will need in this position are: 5+ years of experience in a financial analyst role, preferably within a retail or multi‑unit environment. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, with strong skills in PowerPoint, Power BI, and Word. Experience with SAP and Business Objects (BOBJ). Ability to synthesize complex data and communicate a clear, compelling story to diverse audiences. Strong partnership and communication skills across all levels of the business. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Natural curiosity and willingness to ask questions and dig into details. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience. Location requirement: Vans HQ, Costa Mesa There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred. Retail environment experience. Experience with StoreForce or similar retail labor / performance platforms. Knowledge of SMG, Concur, and Coupa.
