Position Summary The Safety Professional is responsible for establishing, implementing, managing and continuously improving multiple safety programs for the facility. The Safety Professional will have a broad knowledge of safety compliance programs and where required, safety specialty areas. This role includes strategic safety planning as well as a tactical role for site wide safety systems, regulations and best practices. Role and Responsibilities Here's What You'll Be Responsible For: Implement an effective contractor safety program that engages employees, contractors and vendors at all levels working toward a Journey to Zero safety culture. Ability to anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices associated with the contractor safety program. Develop hazard control designs, methods, procedures and programs to supplement safety programs. Lead and advise employees and contractor related risk assessment reviews and processes. Measure, audit and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control elements. Review and audit pre-task plans, site risk analyses and standard operating procedures. Instruct safety related classes as necessary such as mobile elevated work platforms, LOTO, Fall protection, Electrical Safety, etc. Time management spent in the field and working closely with contractors, vendors, department sponsors and field safety team personnel. Effectively communicate changes and/or updates to Fall Protection and other designated programs. Drive timely completion of investigations and corrective actions associated with incidents, near-miss incidents, and compliance inspections. Assist with the daily management of the tiered auditing program including closure of facility's preventative and corrective action plans. Ensure records are maintained in compliance with internal, local, state, provincial, and federal EHS laws, regulations, permits and program Develop EHS strategies and improvement plans to drive continuous improvement, including risk reductions and cultural improvements in order to minimize incidents Partner closely with corporate EHS to ensure strategy alignment and communicate the operations perspective. Collaboration with field safety team as it related to SSRT observations, trends, scorecards and graded walk participation.
