Amazon MGM Studios is seeking a highly motivated, curious, and analytical Senior Accountant to join the Studios Accounting team in Culver City, California. Amazon MGM Studios is home to award-winning television series including Wednesday, The Handmaid's Tale, Fargo, Vikings, Survivor, The Voice, Fallout, The Rings of Power, Reacher, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Boys, and original films including Project Hail Mary, Air, and Creed. The Business Controllership team is responsible for managing revenue operations, accounts receivable, and various accounting functions. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, sound business judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, global environment. This individual will think both strategically and tactically, partner cross-functionally, and influence senior business leaders through clear communication, analytical rigor, and well-reasoned recommendations. Key job responsibilities - Own the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries, analyzing and explaining variances, and delivering meaningful financial reporting to management - Build trust and credibility with senior leadership through clear, concise communication - Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, Production, Tax, Sales, to ensure alignment and effective information flow - Review licensing agreements and interpret contractual terms to determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606, and process agreements through the rights management system - Manage client royalty statement processing to the general ledger to record revenue and AR - Ensure accurate processing of Accounts Receivable functions such as billing, collections, and cash application - Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls and audits - Evaluate existing processes and recommend, develop, and drive improvements to increase efficiency and scalability
