About the role
Most people applying for this role will not have worked in digital advertising before, and that is fine. What you are joining is a structured learning environment where the expectation in your first month is simply to absorb - get to know the platforms, understand how the team works, and start building the foundations. What you need to bring is an analytical mind and a genuine curiosity about data. The day-to-day work involves looking at how advertising campaigns are performing, understanding why the numbers are moving the way they are, and helping to make them better. If that kind of problem-solving appeals to you, the technical knowledge is something this team will teach you. The role reports to a Senior Digital Manager who works directly in the platforms alongside you every day. You will never be left to figure things out alone.
Responsibilities
- Learn how digital advertising platforms work from the inside - how campaigns are built, how budgets are allocated, and how performance is measured across Google Ads, Meta and TikTok
- Monitor live campaigns day to day, checking that spend is pacing correctly, that ads are running as intended, and that performance is moving in the right direction
- Spot anything that looks off - an ad that is spending too much, a campaign that has stopped delivering - and flag it to your manager before it becomes a bigger problem
- Pull data and contribute to the weekly and monthly reports that go to clients, with support from the broader team
- Sit in on client meetings alongside your manager and, as your confidence grows, start contributing to those conversations
- Use third-party advertising tools and platforms as part of your day-to-day work, learning as you go
Requirements
- A degree in commerce, marketing, data analytics, mathematics or a related field - or equivalent experience that demonstrates genuine comfort with numbers and analytical thinking
- Some practical exposure to digital, data or marketing through an internship, university project or relevant work experience - prior experience in digital advertising specifically is not required
- Working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets - not advanced, but genuinely comfortable pulling and organising data
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills; you will be in client-facing situations earlier than you might expect
- A proactive and accountable approach - someone who flags problems early, follows through, and takes ownership of their work rather than waiting to be told what to do next
- Genuine enthusiasm for understanding how and why things work, not just reporting that they do
- Who will thrive here
- This role is for you if:
- You find it satisfying to dig into data and work out what is actually driving a result
- You are comfortable spending a meaningful part of your day in spreadsheets and reporting tools
- You take accountability seriously - when something goes wrong, your instinct is to flag it and fix it
- You want to build real technical expertise, not just exposure to the industry
- This role is not for you if:
- You are drawn primarily to the creative side of marketing - writing copy, designing visuals, building brand identity
Additional Information
We have partnered with a Sydney-based digital consultancy that helps businesses grow through online advertising. Their clients range from well-known Australian brands to companies based in the United States, and the work spans the full spectrum of digital advertising channels - Google, Meta, TikTok, programmatic and more. When a business wants more customers, more sales, or more enquiries from their online advertising, this is the team they call. This is not a creative agency. There are no TV commercials, no brand photoshoots, no social media content calendars. The work here is analytical and strategic - figuring out where a client's advertising budget should go, making sure it is being spent as effectively as possible, and measuring what the results actually mean. It is closer to a consulting environment than a traditional marketing agency, and the people who thrive here reflect that. The team has grown significantly and is now opening new roles at coordinator level to support a strong pipeline of new clients.
