The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. Description of Work Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Position will be assigned to a housing unit in the custody area. Effective verbal/written communication with other staff, offenders, and the general public. Be capable of defending oneself against attack by violent persons. Work under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders who can become physically violent/ verbally abusive. Conduct continuous visual/audio surveillance of assigned work area. Accurately operate office machines/prepare written reports/forms which accurately reflect information reviewed from various sources. Demonstrate/ instruct offenders in the proper safe use of tools, equipment/supplies. Review, analyze/evaluate various documents and behavioral data gathered from interview/documentation/personal observation. Perform crisis intervention/routine counseling to include suicide prevention. Account for supplies/ equipment. Implement/ manage correctional programs. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $37,377 - $65,408 This job posting will close at 11:59 pm, the night before the end date listed above. Necessary Special Qualifications : MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. To be considered for a Correctional Case Manager position, ALL applicants must : Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302) Pass a criminal background check Produce a negative drug screening result Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations Possess a valid driver's license Required Adverse Weather Reporting : This position is designated as "Mandatory" and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits . About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
