About the role
The Facilities Operations team within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire an Arborist I. This role serves as a skilled field technician member of the tree care team, assisting in all tree related duties under the direction of the Arborist III.

- Follow all safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) while maintaining awareness of job site hazards.
- Assist with storm cleanup and emergency response efforts when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned and provide support to other Facilities departments as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .
- Prior experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, forestry, or arborist support work.
- Familiarity with basic tree care practices such as pruning, planting, mulching, and watering.
- Experience operating tree care tools and equipment in an outdoor or field environment, including chain saws, pull saws, and aerial lifts.
- Knowledge of or exposure to workplace safety practices, including PPE use and hazard awareness.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision in a team environment.
- Experience working in a campus, park, or large property maintenance setting is a plus.
- Basic recordkeeping or data entry experience related to work tasks or maintenance activities.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Health Assessment Required:
- UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
- Special Instructions to the Applicants:
- The anticipated hourly rate range for this position is $17.64 - $21.61. The final hourly rate will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
- The selected candidate will be required to obtain an ISA Certified Arborist credential within six months of hire. The cost of certification will be covered by the department.
- Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
- May be required to participate in respiratory, medical examination and training in use of respirators.
